Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite is the “cottage cheese” dimpling that is observed
in the skin, either with or without pinching. Cellulite is commonly found on upper thighs and lower buttocks. Over 90% of all women, regardless of their weight or age are affected by cellulite. The lumpy and small pillowed appearance is the result of connective tissue bands (septae) that hold the skin to the underlying muscle, trapping the fat, and causing a “quilted” appearance.

The medical name for cellulite is: Dermatomyoliposclerosis (DMLS). Cellulite is a four-stage process, with slow progression over a lifetime. The initial change is a deterioration of the dermal vasculature and particularly the loss of capillary networks. This is due to fat cells clumping together and decreasing venous return, which causes poor blood circulation.

This medical condition has been one of the most difficult to treat. It negatively impacts a woman’s self image and self esteem.
